Until the paperback version was released, it's true that the only edition 
available was the 1992, in hardback for $145 ish.

I believe you're talking about the "SHORTER" New Oxford Book of Carols 
which
I do indeed own.  It's an anthology of items drawn from the massive New
Oxford Book of Carols (1992).  The New Oxford costs well over $100.  The
"shorter" version was produced so it could be affordable for your regular
chior (and me.)
