Rone,
APOLOGIA:
The vehemence of the detractors for the source you
offered are biased strongly upon past experience
with other offerings from the publisher in question.
Some of these persons obviously have a few
things to learn about civility, courtesy, and
the conveyance of "tone" in electronic communications.
Please, don't judge us all by the intemperate
blatherings of a few who are obviously still
learning how to use their words.
COMMENTARY ON SOURCE:
While not personally familiar with this new source you
cite, I would encourage that anyone using it as a starting
point for research verify the sources in the bibliography of
the book AND actively check any critical points in at
least two other non-Llewellyn publications before basing
much on them.
Such, sadly, is the earned reputation of that particular
publisher. Llewellyn is far more trusted as a supplier
of material dealing with astrology and alternative
religions than it can ever be for scholarly works, given
the past history of (non-)accuracy found in too many
of the titles offered through 1-800-THE-MOON.
Therefore, do not be overly put off by the rubes -- but do
be critical enough in your thinking to recognize the
history of short-comings in the publisher's other
titles and make a commitment to doing a thorough
job of verification before using a citation for scholarly
purposes.
That's the "head knowledge". The "heart knowledge",
what you or I choose to personally believe and use in
daily living, can be something else entirely. Within the
purview of the great body of Merlin material available,
it _is_ best to keep the distinction very firmly in mind.
