Certainly, there's such a thing as bardic immunity -- it even comes in two 
different flavors:  "thick skin" and "fast shoes."  Unless you can reasonably 
expect retribution to be limited to verbal assault, I recommend using the 
latter.  (Whatever you do, don't rely on a fast tongue to get you out of the
deep and stinky -- that's like using a hammer to mend a crack in a ceramic 
bell.)
