Peace be with all members from Caid Mailing and the Minstrels' List.
Rumaging through some old e-mails kept in my old 486 PC, I found a message from Caid's Herald, explaining that, since I'm the only person in contact with SCA here in my contry, Brazil, I could choose a tentative name to my land, not an official one, for we must be at least five people to establish a enclave here. I've been calling my land "Terra Brasilis" (something like The Land of Brazil) as a lark, but now I've got an idea. I summon the learned folk from Caid Mailing and the gifted members of the Minstrels' List who live in the four corners of the Knowne World to help me choose my land's very first name in the SCA tradition which has already rendered such strong and musical names as Calafia, Ansteorra, Falconis Turris, Moon Draconis and so many others. Even though it won't be official, it can be used by us all until an official name is chosen by those who gather here. I give you my word I'll advocate the name we choose to be officialized. I can't garantee it will, but I promise it will stand a better chance than any other. This way, I won't feel so lonely and separated from SCA here in South America. A little explanation for those interested: as we're taught in elementary school, "Brazil" (written in Portuguese with an s - Brasil) come's from the Portuguese word "brasa" (ember) and was the name of a now almost extinct kind of red wood tree indigenous to the land, "pau-brasil". Only much later I learned of the mythical land of Hi Brasil and it's possible influence in the naming of the country. In friendship,
Glaura Branca Pereyra de Santa Maria, who lives in a newly discovered country, as yet unamed.
The honor is to serve.
