Flieg here --
This weekend was West Kingdom Crown Tourney.
54 fighters entered the lists. After fourth round part of the field is
thrown open to those who have been eliminated so that they may "fight for
the roses". This is a tournament sponsored by Her Majesty in which each
fight is fought to see which of the two fighters will have to beg Her
Majesty for a rose to give to a person that the other fighter designates.
I am currently champion of Her Majesty Talitha, Queen of the West. I took
the field during the Roses, not to win roses for Her, but to win honor to
her name and to honor all those for whom we fight.
I fought 25 people, and collected their names and those of their consorts.
I am planning on turning the result into an epic poem celebrating Her Majesty.
Before entering the field I delivered to Her Majesty the third in a series of
rondeaux, and also delivered a praise poem of thanks to the calligrapher and
illuminator who did my Laurel scroll in time for 12th Night.
Next weekend I have to have a poem ready for a Baronial Championship Tourney,
an start working on a martially-themed work for West-Caid War, upcoming.
Come May 1st at Coronation, I have to have a Spring Carol ready to compete
against Mistress Wander Riordan, who answered my "Bardic Challenge" as
Queen's Champion. This weekend I accepted a second such challenge.
So what is the nature of the Troubador Laurette competition?
