minstrel: Introduction

I've just signed up to the Minstrel list, and I'm not sure
what your usual etiquette is - whether you expect people to
introduce themselves on joining it, or not.

So I'm choosing the former course. My name is Paul Deane;
I'm a linguist by profession, and a poet by avocation. I'm
particularly interested in alliterative poetry of the classic
Beowulf/Eddaic/Sir Gawain & the Green Knight mold.

I also roleplay online (Elendor MUSH, to be precise, if that
means anything to anyone on here: a Tolkien fantasy world.)

I'm not an SCA member, more through a lack of time and energy
than a lack of interest, though that might change in the not
too distant future; I hope you don't mind an interested outsider
peeping his head in?
