minstrel: A "new" request for help

Lady Elisabeth,
I'm sure you would sound perfectly appropriate singing unaccompanied
ballads. My own reading suggests that in Elizabethan/Jacobean drama the
preponderance of lute playing also seems to be by women--despite the fact
the the most well-known lute composers and players were men.
A lute is expensive, but problaby less than a full suit of armor. And
if you don't feel you have to play at the level of a Dowland you can learn
to accompany yourself fairly easily.
