Subject: Re: minstrel: Bardic competitions
One of the songs that I do is called Griogal Cridhe. It is one of the few
existing Gaelic songs that we can definitely date within our period, being
composed in 1574.
To Eogan: I would consider it a great kindness if you could supply me with
either the piece, itself or a source where I might find it. It's a little
later than my persona but I'll manage something --
To the list: Here's a source you might find helpful for Gaelic poetry and
song: Gair nan Clarsach -- The Harp's Cry, An Anthology of 17th Century
Gaelic Poetry (Birlinn Ltd - 1994) available from James Thin. The pieces
run ?1600 - to ?c1698 and are in both Gaelic and English.
