Ah! I remember well one "Bardic Competition" which would select "The (large
group area) Bard", in which it was argued that the competition should be
held in a back room with just the 3 or so "judges" (I would sound cyniical
if I were to make comments about THEIR qualifications to make such a
judgement, especially in those circumstances, so I will not) as audience,
so as not to waste time out in the feast hall... bugger the "entertainment"
value....
One of the most widely acclaimed (by those in funny hats) "Bard" was
someone who kneeled 2-3 feet in front of the Prince and mumbled the
submission so that no one else in the hall could hear...
Rther frustrating for those who did have experience in working a large
crowd of a hundred or two...
As I had spent about 24 hours travelling on the road to get there, and was
not driving home that night, I decided to ingest the mead...
[Bottle] ...good idea...
:-p
