Thank you all for the answers to my question.  Gleaning through, I think
that the lute is a long term goal, anyone know if it requires special
maintenance for -40 degree weather (:  In the short term, I have had some
recorder lessons, and I've found some people willing to try, and a person
who wants to learn bodrhan as well.  Thank you all, once again for the
comments.
