Flieg here --
Well, I took this to the Mists Bardic Workshop, and since I was the only
one there I pondered it a while and came up with a little analysis.
Then I read Mistress Tangwystl's extensive analysis.
What she said.
There are a couple of places where I would have stressed a different
syllable, but she has it much better than I.
The only thing that I would add is that if you sing it in what I
think of as "typical ballad tune mode" there is a lot of room in the
melody/unstressed part to stretch words (to get an unstressed beat
where there isn't anything extra) or to put three syllables into two
beats (using a triplet). I was pretty much able to get all but one or
two lines into a constant (sung) length line.
Cute problem.

He sayd, "it was the Duglas promys this day to met me hear,
>But I wyste he wolde faylle verament;" a great ithg the Perse' swear.
^^^^
Just one question, though. Is that really "ithg" up there?
