Attention all instrumentalists of the Knowne World!
As part of the new Pennsic Performing Arts Exhibition there will be a day
set aside for instrumentalists of all types to perform. Soloists, duets,
groups large and small, of any kind and skill level are all welcome to
participate. Our purpose is to demonstrate and celebrate the wonderful
variety of musical talent that exists in the SCA, so don't be shy! Come and
show us why you love to do what you do!
The exhibition will take place on Thursday, August 13th, from 12pm til no
later than 6pm at the new Pennsic Performing Arts Center. You may perform
as many pieces as you wish, but please keep your performance under 7
minutes. If there is time and desire, you may perform again after everyone
has had their turn. There are no other rules regarding performance. Play
any instruments you please*, play your own composition or that of others,
whatever! Voice with accompaniment is also welcome, but if the primary focus
of your performance is vocal, consider performing at the vocal day of the
festival (though nothing bars anyone from performing on both days!). Please
prepare a brief, verbal explanation of the piece. Written documentation is
NOT necessary. Remember, there are no judges, no prizes, no winners or
losers. There will only be great music, applause, and the cameraderie of
those who all love music.
*a brief list of instruments: shawms, reed pipes, bagpipes, panpipes, pipe
and tabor, recorders, portative organs, hurdy-gurdys, trumpets, harps,
lyres, psalteries, dulcimers, lutes, gitterns, rebecs fiddles, drums, bells,
crumhorns, horns, sackbutts, violas, and vielles. If your instrument isn't
on this list, then definately bring it, because it may be rare and unusual
and we'd all love to hear it!
