In addition to the questions suggested by Brendan, people may ask about
the plagal forms if they've encountered church modes.

Examples are definitely a good idea -- actual melodies in addition to
just playing the scales.  (Good luck with Locrian...)

You mean the Guidonian hand?  (Is there anyone on this list who can
explain why that's a useful mneumonic for anything, by the way?  I know
how to lay it out; I just don't know how it's supposed to help.)
