minstrel: surgery recovery?

Has anyone on the list ever had sinus (or other) surgery?  Has it radically
changed your singing voice, for the better or worse, in the short or long
run?  Anyone have any experience in how long it takes to recover -
especially, how long for the throat to recover from having a breathing tube
down it?  I just had sinus surgery yesterday (nothing huge, just
roto-rootering through some obstructions and clearing out some polyps) and,
of course, the surgeon really downplayed the recovery pain & time in his
original consult.  I had planned to be singing on Saturday but I think
that's out.  No big deal, but I am curious about longterm effects.
