<< From what I've read, juggling falls under the purview of "minstrel" as
it applies to this list and as Devil Sticks are my only instrument (aside
from VERY beginning drumming) I thought I might ask a question.
Does anyone know of any period documentation of Devil Sticks? The earliest
reference I know of is a book written in the 1750's describing entertainments
at the Imperial Court of China. I just can't imagine that something as
simple as this, however, originated as late as the 18th century.
Any information will be appreciated.

YEAH JUGGLING!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay well, no I don't have any documentation on devil sticks, I know the
Diablo was invented in China a few thousand years ago. Balls are fairly
common and easy to manipulate and are very period. Clubs not so much, they
are made of plastic which is thoroughly not period. You can find wooden clubs
but they can be a bit heavy and expensive as well. As far as I know knives
are very period, bit of sarcasm. Fire breathing is period as well although it
is very dangerous, I have thought of learning and am very curious, but want to
live a nice and full life sill me huh. My advice would be learn more
juggling, it is fun and great exercise. I have been juggling for 5 1/2 years
now and love it. Ball juggling is a good place to start and if anyone is
looking for something bizarre to juggle I make chainmaille juggling balls,
lots of fun to mess with and quite period. Never had more fun then playing
with my balls of steel, hee hee. If anyone has anymore further questions they
would like to ask me on juggling go for it. Sorry I couldn't help you about
the devil sticks, was never to fond of them myself they are very fun to play
with and are beautiful to watch but I could never get the hang of it. Good
luck to you good gentle on your search for information. And for all of those
wondering about chainmaille juggling balls email off list and I will give you
further information, sorry for the Spam guys but I had to do it.
Anon and good day
