minstrel: Bardic in war

This really depends on your definition of "bard".

You can find lots of guys like Richard the Lionheart that were crusaders 
AND troubadors. Even Elanor of Aquitaine brought a gaggle of musicians 
with her on crusade with her first husband.

>From the "true" celtic bard tradition, Taliesin states in many of his 
poems that he was witness to many great battles and the deeds of great 
heroes. Its also well documented that many Landsknecht units of the 16th 
century had lots of camp followers of whores, musicians and other 
entertainers.
