Hello
Glad to help. Quite a lot of Troubadour material is available on
CD. Check the Classical section of a good music store and look for an
Early Music section. Some of the local stores even have a Troubadour
section. I'll give some information on a few CD incase you have to
spevial order something.
One of my Favorites is "Songs of Chivalry" by the Martin Best Mediaeval
Ensemble. It's on Nimbus Records and the order number is: NI 5006 The
recording quality isn't very good but the songs are great.
Another good one is " Music of the Crusades" by The Early Music
Consort of London It's on London Records Number 430-264-2
"Dante and the troubadours" by Sequentia on the BMG Classics label
Number: 05472-77227-2
"Montsegur: La tragedie cathare" by La Nef on Dorian Recordings
Number: DOR-90243
This is music inspired by the Albegensin Crusade. It's a very enjoyable
CD thaough the arraingments are a bit modern.
For more information on the Troubadours I strongly reccomend the book:
A Handbook of the Troubadours, Edited by F.R.P Akehurst and Judith M.
Davis, (1995) University of California Press, Berkekey, Los Angeles,
London ISBN 0-520-07976-0
It is an execellent introduction to Troubadour studies, and is very
affordable.
I hope this helps.
