Hej, from Owen Alun
At our weekly meeting tonight we wound up having an impromptu bardic
challenge (one of the locals had written a poem that he wanted to share in
public at our monthly folkmoot, but he didn't want to be the only person
with a poem to share -- thus he challenged me and some others to come up
with something to present along with him. I sorta like what I came up
with and therefore would like to offer it to you for your amusement and
critique -- it's in a vaguely Welsh form, with an attempt [inadequate, but
it's in English, so what can one expect]. at Cynghanedd [proper definition
welcome, but it's a combination of alliteration, accentuation and rhyme].
Warmth in Winter -- Owen Alun/Ben Tucker, (c) 1998
All within this wood is ours
At bonfires bright beneath the stars
Let the words which now unfold
Give warmth and cheer in winter's cold
Share this land with all who seek
Warrior brave or be they meek
For all are equal when we sing
Commoner or King -- A quiet
Understanding under starlight.
