5 min. TV attentions?  While that may be an insult to the audience, I
have found very few SCA audiences that can handle the length story that
early medieval audiences seemed to like.  Most of the early (and
obviously oral tradition stories) were long, with few stopping places. 
One story might suffice for an entire evening. Try telling an entire
story from 1000 and 1 nights, a chapter from Homer, the entire Beowulf,
etc. and see how many people from your modern SCA audience will sit rapt
through the entire thing.
