minstrel: Praising One's Kingdom

Note for the minstrel mail-list: the following first appeared today,
embedded within the text of a message I sent to the ansteorra mail-list.

We here are in the process of considering the formation of principalities
within the current kingdom, and a great deal of concern has been shown over
who gets to keep the name Ansteorra if&when any such sub-groups manage to
qualify as kingdoms themselves. I made a half-jest proposal to establish a
mechanism where all of the "children" get to keep and share the name. (It's
called an "Empire", for lack of a more descriptive & obvious naming...)

It has been observed by most that I have spoken with that popular support
seems to be running better than two-to-one against the current proposition:
it is reassuring to be on the side of the majority for once...

A single Star, unique in the heavens of this world
A single Star, forged of the sparks from a rattan sword
A single Star, brightly dark in the minds of one people
ANSTEORRA, dark-star banners fly from every steeple

Unique, standing proud in the plains of the coast
Strong-forged, resting upon hills where men boast
Dark-visaged, yet bright in the hills and the forested lands
ANSTEORRA, nation where the bold hero stands

Far-reaching, the report of her children's worth
Sharp-edged, the night-tales of her ancient birth
Thought-ringed, we still wonder at what we might do
ANSTEORRA, mother to all who by her stand true.

Golden banner with the dark star, flowing:
Here's to your legend forever growing!
     ANSTEORRA!
