To my surprise and delight, several responses to my posting! I was
interested that my tart depiction of a "rhino-bard" elicited most of the
comments. Hmmmmm. However, I should clarify one point regarding the following:
"Finding his place, he says, 'This is "The Twa Sisters' with twenty-three
documented verses, performed without instrumentation as was appropriate,'
and begins to sing.
"Is it well-documented? Obviously. Is it art? I don't think so."
I certainly do not mean to say that a well-documented song, skillfully
performed, is not art. Pray pardon if my choice of words gave that
impression. As the Lady Tangwystyl was correct to point out:
>"Well-documented" and "art" are not mutually exclusive categories. Neither
are "well-documented" and "enjoyable".
However, my contention is that "well-documented" and "art" are not mutually
INCLUSIVE categories. Neither are "well-documented" and "enjoyable".
Thanks, good gentles, for your comments!
