minstrel: Of course, sorta

I am best known to the SCA as Amra, friend-Mikal.  I am "the Dreamsinger 
Bard" in the same way that Master Ioseph is "the White Bard"; it was he in 
fact who granted me name-right.

(s.k.a. = "Society known as", in the manner of "mka" for "mundanely known 
as"; I am accounted a bard beyond the scope of the SCA, and known to many in 
the NeoPagan community by the Kihe name...)

I can but try (this is only a poor approximation -- I would appreciate any 
and all commentary upon my adherence to the form I am attempting, 
particularly as I very seldom have turned my hand to the style of the 
saga-men):

     Grandfather Smith

The heros all boasted    with swordhands all reddened
Of hundreds now dead     the windrows of slaughter
The old farmer heard them     remembered bold heroes
Their fathers before them     in stone graves now sleeping
His daughters all cried now   their husbands long fallen
Grandsons beseeched him  to teach them the longsword
Hammer and anvil    rang dark in the moonlight
Singing old skald-songs  red-hearted as morning
Farmer turned smith now  toiled at the hearth-side
Spearpoint and swordedge forged-hot, steam-fathers
Down to the dragon  roared his bold grandsons
Boasting as heroes  with swordhands to redden
