Greetings, all!
FOLKLORE OF THE DAY:
As we are now in the month of June, the traditional month of weddings, I offer
you this:
In olden times, people believed that the bride's adornments had mystical
value, and would try to tear off pieces of her gown to ensure their good
fortune. The bride threw the bouquet away from herself so that the crowd
would have something to grab for, and she could then escape with her clothes
intact.
