Apologies for any misunderstanding. I did not intend to denigrate the
practice of giving away intellectual property. IMO, the problems/hard
feelings come in when someone has given stuff away for some time, then
suddenly changes their policy. (And it doesn't have to involve
money...simply wanting to exercise control where one has never insisted on
it before can be just as confusing)
The other problem, that of folks just *assuming* that intellectual property
created and distributed in the SCA is fair game, is neither understandable
nor forgiveable. Some copyright issues may seem complex, but the basic
concept of obtaining permission before using someone else's property is
taught in kindergarten. :) If you follow that simple rule, you cannot go
wrong on copyright.
