Hi. As to the climate I live in, it is semi-desert and thereby quite arid
with extremes of temperature. My drum originally came from Walton's in
Dublin Ireland and went to a small town north of me - also in that
semi-desert area (I live in the central interior of BC - Kamloops). I
bought the drum in Vancouver BC and during the time I've owned it it
hasn't been very many places. Other than when I bought it, it's been to
Vancouver once and to somewhere near Bellingham Washington once, it has
been several times to a small, hot town called Clinton 1.5 hours west of
me as well. When travelling, I usually wrap it in a wool and solarfleece
cloak to protect it (and hold it on my lap for the whole trip since the
people in my house are not as paranoid about the drum getting squished
by armorbags as I am) and I *never* leave it in a hot car. During these
trips, Murphy's Law kicked into effect and gave me extremes of wet and
dry weather, so half the time I had a skin too loose to play on and the
other half too tight. I was told that Walton's is a good brand name but
perhaps was I led astray? I'll be getting some saddle soap this weekend
to see if it makes any difference.
