At any rate, for now a short poem (or three) would be best... I know the
tales of Robin Hood were extremely popular and not necessarily epic.

And now for the library...
One tip again: there ist Digital Tradition, where you could find some seemingly 
old versions of Robin Hood poems. They also carry the appropriate melodies. 
So maybe its worth a look. Try:
