St. Stephen

As a side note, the stoning of St. Stephen seems to have been one of the
incitements for attacks on Jews on medeival France.  For example, the seal of
the city of Metz shows two 
Jews in Jew's hats stoning St. Stephen as he kneels and reaches out to a dove
representing the Holy Spirit.  See Medieval Seals from Europe.  (The author
does note that not all representations of St. Stephen are anti-semitic, even
all representations of the stoning.)
