probably predecessor of draughts or chequers) which along with nine men's
morris would have been well known. Chess also known along with tables and other
dice games. I imagine, due to their portability, dice would have been important
in crusader entertainment and in Europe generally, though scratching a nine
men's morris board into the earth and playing with pebbles would surely have
