Does anyone have a reference to the use of long dice in the West in the medieval or post medieval period, particularly a dated reference. Parlett makes reference to Long Lawrence or Lang Larence but has no dated examples and I have found a few other oblique references but nothing concrete.
The fact that this long dice is possibly named after an early Christian martyr suggests that it has a medieval rather than post medieval origin or at least this name does in Britain.
The Long Lawrence was used for Put and Take which is an early game.
Any ideas ?
