hist-games: Alquerque/Al-Kirkat

I would like to make a game board for Alquerque/al-kirqat that is 
close to an historical board in materials and technique not later 
than the 16th or 17th century, although earlier would be better.

So far, the only picture i've seen is the illustration in the Books 
of Games of Alfonso el Sabio from about 1283.

Does anyone have information on how game boards were made in Medieval 
and Renaissance Spain/al-Andalus?
