Abstract:
Broadly surveys the history of beer brewing from ca. 3500
BC (in Sumer) to the 16th century (in Europe), recounts
how monasteries practiced beer brewing throughout
Europe in the 12th and 13th centuries, and discusses how
beer brewing technology and the flavor of beer were greatly
improved by urban European brewers from the 14th
through the 16th centuries.
                  
Period: ca 3500 BC-16c.
