To quote my sons' favorite TV star:  "This ain't rocket science, here."  
Honestly, it isn't.  To echo another poster, unless you've actually got 
real problem water (iron, nitrates, etc.), getting things in the ballpark 
will be good enough for most brewing.

I've found there to be a great deal more effect from many other sources 
than from forgetting to treat my water.
