hist-brewing: Asbethine

I have an herb I grew and it is called licorice plant.  It smells like licorice when pinched and rubbed between your fingers.  I took some of that herb and put it in a jar and steeped it with vodka and some vanilla bean. Now my question is do I now have  an asbethine (sp) drink?  As for I have not consumed any but a couple of sips.  So from what I've read about it,  I just wanted to know.
