hist-brewing: pumpkin mead

In one of the brewing newsgroups hey discussed brewing in a pumpkin.  Some of those who tried said the pumpkin did not last.  Some said tit was a rather nasty thing to see.  I have no personal experience to share on this, just thought I would pass on the hearsay.
