Actually that midus recipe is very close to a recipe I use. Instead of hops I 
use ginger though and I've been told that my recipe comes from Old Europe. I 
may be wrong though. Watch out though, even after straining it gets stronger 
after bottling, maybe its just an effect of the ginger. Who knows.
