I must thank everyone for the reference to the OED on-line.
does indeed work.

Here's what I found out.
Both words are defined with quotes from, you guessed it, The London & Country Brewer.

Sharp is defined as "hot; scalding"
and Goods is defined by an additional Quote from Whitbread as used "to describe the crushed malt grains in the mash tun"
