Just a reminder that our BWBUG meeting is next Tuesday:

Date: Tue May 14, 3:00 pm
Speaker: David Rhoades, Conservative
Topic: Talk on Power/Cooling/Chassis/Power Supplies

The newest leading-edge Beowulf nodes are hotter and more power-hungry than
ever. People trying to drive AMD MP systems with 300 watt power supplies
have run into trouble. Dual-processor Xeon systems from motherboard
manufacturers are leaving the extended ATX form factor and now conform to
the new Server System Infrastructure (SSI) Forum Entry-level Electronics-Bay
(EEB) V3.0 Specification. David Rhoades will discuss the SSI Forum, and
future implications. You'll find out why the old 250 watt power supplies
are being replaced with 400 or 460 watts, and why you may start seeing more
motherboards moving away from the ATX form factor towards SSI standards.
You'll also learn some common-sense rules of thumb for planning your power
and cooling requirements, along with some methods you can use for testing..
He will have samples of chassis and systems on-hand.

>From the Beltway, take the BWPkwy (295) North. Take the first exit
onto MD-193 towards Greenbelt/NASA Goddard. At the bottom of the ramp
you will turn left onto MD193, and then IMMEDIATELY right onto Hanover
Parkway. Take the next right onto Greenway Center Drive and the
Logicon building is near the end of the road on the left.

The auditorium is on the top floor.
