November 11 - Nevskys Revenge
Barony of Dun Carraig, Leonardtown, MD
As winter nears it is time to celebrate and relive Nevskys Revenge. So, we
call forth all Teutonic Knights, all Russians and let us not forget the
Mongols to do battle. The Teutonic Knights will face the Russians and the
day shall decide which side the Mongols take. Come and enjoy this day of
fighting and feasting.
Fighting: Planned for the day are just series of mass melees in the spirit
of Alexander Nevskys victory over the Teutonic Knights. In the battle the
victory occured because of the drowning of the Teutonic Knights when they
fell through the ice (we will not try to recreate this portion of the
battle). The sides will be split with each fighter choosing one of three
sides (Russian, Teutonic Knight, or Mongol). Questions concerning the
martial activities should be directed to Lord Helmut Krueger (Dave Weese)
dweese at 3n.net, (540) 644-8021.
Archery: An archery shoot will be held. (I regret having no specifics at
this time).
A&S: There will be a class on the making of pysanky eggs as well as a
competition for the best decorated egg. In addition, a competition for the
best Eastern European garb, first attempt. An ikon painting contest has been
added as well. Questions should be directed to Lady Rieinmelt verch Owain
(Catrina Trainor) catrainor at osprey.smcm.edu.
The day will involve dancing focused on eastern European styles. New dances
will be taught and several dancing exhibitions will be made throughout the
day. There will be dancing following feast for gentles to use what they
learned. Questions should be directed to Lord Edvard Gayer via e-mail
scavard at hotmail.com
Feast: Lord Muirghen Rhuadh will be making a feast of Eastern European
cuisine. Please direct all dietary concerns to Lord Murighen (Hank
Steinfeld, (301) 373-3035 or via email at steinfeld at tqci.net).
