DescriptionThis is a hypothetical campaign during the American Civil War. Set in late 1862, it concerns a Confederate invasion of Ohio. The goal of the Union team is firstly to protect Cincinnati from Confederate capture and to hopefully eject the Confederate army from the state, secondly to (if possible) destroy the Confederate army. The goal of the Confederate team is to attempt to either a) capture Cincinnati, b) destroy the Union army, or c) both. The OOBs (Orders of Battle; i.e., army organization) for both sides will be roughly based on those existing for the CSA and USA forces during the Kentucky Campaign of 1862, but will not mirror these organizations exactly; units and commanders will be somewhat randomized. There are six total players---three for the CSA, three for the USA. For each team, there will be one (1) player acting as army commander, and two (2) players acting as wing/corps commanders. As the area in question was never the location of sustained combat operations during the actual war, the terrain will be randomized by the GM. Since they are operating on their own territory, the Union players will immediately have regional and local maps that are mostly accurate, whilst the Confederate players will start with regional maps, and will only gain local maps after they have been in the area for a certain length of time. Tactical maps will become available to both sides after battle has been joined for a length of time. In the absence of maps, players will have to rely on text descriptions of their surroundings to manuver. Naturally this will be a source of trial-and-error in giving orders, requiring players who can be patient with the workings of this kind of system. As a general rule, each turn will comprise one-half day (16 hours) of operations. When battle is joined, this will be reduced to a smaller window of game time. Generally, players will have approximately 48-72 hours from receipt of updates to send in orders. Presently there is a need for two more players. Those who wish to lurk and observe rather than participate as players are also welcome. For more information, contact the GM at iceman1977_01@hotmail.com.
