DescriptionHell's Cauldron is a Free-Form Play by E-Mail Roleplaying game set some fifty years after the end of World War 3 in the Sanctuary City of Diyu. During that war the Chinese, allied with the reformed Soviet States of Russia, Vietnam and North Korea, defeated NATO and the Allied Powers. Most of the world is uninhabitable and only a few 'sanctuary' cities remain. The Sanctuaries are vast walled Cities, most of them Chinese Prison Camps. Diyu is one of the largest, and holds people of all nationalities and beliefs, mastered over by Chinese and Axis City Officials and Police. The City is Devided into four areas known as Quarters, each one housing people of different nationalities and creeds. Over the fifty years of forced residence with no contact outside the walls of the city, the quarters have polarised. Straying into another groups territory is more than a little dangerous. Much like the old cities of New York or Los Angeles, rival Gangs and Crime Cyndicates have sprung up and territory is hotly contended. The remainders of the old world organised crime networks have returned and lord over the city. While Three of the Quarters are little more than slums, the First Quarter is a fully developed town. It is filled mostly with Chinese Military Personnel, City Officials and Citizens of the Axis Nations and is lead by City Commandant Lieutenant General Jiang Lee. From here the Chinese hold overall control of the city and are the only group with free access to the outside world. Citizens of other Nations permitted in the town are second class, and are mostly use for menial labour. The Second Quarter is filled with Americans, Canadians, Allied European Nations and Australians. It is controlled by the Don Bariotsi and his Mafia Family, their power comes from a group of Irish Paramilitaries lead by a former S.A.S commander named Ryan Killen. The Second Quarters is the best developed and most prosperous of the prisoner quarters and has flourished under the control of the Don. Recently, troubles between the Irish and the Italians has been flaring up and many feel that the Don's iron grip over the quarter is slipping. The Third Quarter is filled with the United Middle Eastern and South/West Asian Nations, UMESA was a late-war eastern counterpart to NATO and included almost every Middle Eastern, South Asian and East Asian Nation. It is not run by any particular group or family, instead several families trying to maintain a strong bond in the face of chaos throughout the rest of the City. Most respected amongst all families is the Aziz family, run by Anas Aziz, a wealthy descendant of an Architect with a strong sense of business and loyalty. They use the military strength of the former Nepalese Ghurkas for protection. The Fourth Quarter is filled with the Allied East Asian Nations, those nations who chose to side with NATO or UMESA during the war. It is by far the poorest and most delapidated area, and is lead by Boss Abarai Kaneda, self-proclaimed descendant of a small Samurai family from Western Japan. A strong belief in honour is often foreshadowed by an insatiable love of violence and conflict. He favours using non-Japanese for dirty-jobs, as the following conflict within his Quarter, let alone outside it, gives him a deep sense of satisfaction. |
