DescriptionWelcome to the court of Queen Elinor. You are entering a world of pomp and ceremony, where honeyed words hide darker intentions, and your dearest friend could become your worst enemy. A world where courtiers scheme for power and position, and pleasure is a daily pursuit. Ruled by the whim of one woman, but influenced by a cast of many. A world of intrigue, deception and romance, power and frivolity, where appearances matter, and secrets hide behind closed doors. Will you rise to greatness, and gain the Queen's favour, or will you be relegated to the shadows and byways? Gloriana is loosely based upon the court of the early days of Elizabeth I's reign in England. It is from this period that the inspiration for the setting and manners are gained, but Gloriana is not seeking to recreate it exactly. Instead, it takes the customs, manners and culture of Queen Elizabeth's court as a basis for creating a world that is the same, but different. We shall write our own story, with our own characters, and a minute knowledge of the history of the mid 16th century is not essential. |
